SPIN360 and Circular
Circular Srl provided technical and scientific support to SPIN360 in conducting a research study on environmental assessment methodologies for natural leather, synthetic materials, and leather-like alternatives. The project investigated key methodological challenges that may influence environmental assessment results, with particular attention to data transparency and consistency in comparisons between materials of different origins.

The study addressed four key aspects: raw material traceability, the representation of fossil fuel exploration and extraction activities in environmental databases, the definition of system boundaries and functional units, and the application of environmental impact allocation methods.
The work also included sensitivity analyses to investigate how allocation choices can influence environmental assessment results.
