BAPS Assembly: Circular Supports You in Measuring and Offsetting Your Emissions
On the occasion of the BAPS 2026 Shareholders' Meeting, held across five locations — Ragusa, Palermo, Syracuse, Catania, and Milan — Circular Srl was responsible for measuring the event's carbon footprint.
Who is BAPS?
BAPS – Banca Agricola Popolare di Sicilia is a cooperative banking institution deeply rooted in its local communities, committed to supporting the economic and social development of communities, families, and businesses. Sustainability is an important component of the Bank's corporate strategy, which promotes the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles into its operations, with particular attention to managing environmental impacts, social responsibility, and long-term value creation. As part of this commitment, the Bank also aims to turn institutional events into opportunities to promote greater environmental awareness through scientific methods for measuring greenhouse gas emissions.
The Collaboration with Circular Srl
On the occasion of the BAPS 2026 Shareholders' Meeting, organized across five locations — Ragusa, Palermo, Syracuse, Catania, and Milan — BAPS entrusted Circular Srl with measuring the event's carbon footprint.
Drawing on its expertise in environmental impact assessment, Circular supported the Bank in quantifying the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Shareholders' Meeting, expressed in kilograms or tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e).
Carbon footprint measurement is an essential tool for understanding the climate impact of an event, identifying opportunities for improvement, and guiding future organizational decisions towards the progressive reduction of emissions.
Following the carbon footprint assessment, BAPS offset the calculated emissions through the purchase of Gold Standard-certified carbon credits, an internationally recognized standard that establishes certification and verification requirements for climate change mitigation projects.
The collaboration thus combined scientific emissions measurement with an offsetting initiative, helping to strengthen the Bank's commitment to managing the climate impact of its activities.

A Step Towards More Responsible Events
The project provides a concrete example of how environmental impact measurement can become an integral part of organizing corporate and institutional events.
The collaboration between BAPS and Circular highlights the importance of using measurable data as the foundation for developing more informed and transparent environmental strategies, in which emissions quantification represents the first step towards their progressive reduction.
Measure to understand, understand to improve: this is where a sustainability journey based on reliable data and concrete actions begins.
