Ecomondo returns to Rimini from 4 to 7 November, reaffirming its role as the flagship event for environmental sustainability and the circular economy. Organized by Italian Exhibition Group and now in its 28th edition, the fair was founded in 1997 and is today recognized as Italy’s leading event and one of Europe’s most important for the green economy, research, and sustainable innovation.

Each year, Ecomondo welcomes over 1,500 exhibitors and delegations from more than 60 countries, becoming a unique meeting point for companies, institutions, universities, startups, and research centers committed to building more responsible and circular development models. The event stands out not only for its exhibition scale, but also for its extensive program of conferences and seminars promoted by the Technical Scientific Committee, composed of experts and representatives from Italian and international institutions.

At the heart of this year’s debate are the progress of NRRP (PNRR) projects, the practical application of circular economy principles across production chains, and strategies for the ecological regeneration of soils, water resources, coastlines, and cities. The 2025 edition also places a strong emphasis on technological innovation and internationalization, with dedicated areas focusing on artificial intelligence, environmental digitalization, eco-design, materials recycling, and satellite monitoring for the protection of natural resources. Ecomondo thus confirms its role as a hub for knowledge and networking, where participants can explore funding opportunities, gain insight into European green transition policies, and engage with emerging approaches to environmental communication.

Among the key participants this year will be Circular Srl, an innovative company based in Palermo specializing in the circular economy and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The company will take part in the fair by showcasing its expertise in the scientific measurement of environmental and social impacts, with the aim of promoting sustainable practices grounded in verifiable data and internationally recognized methodologies.

On Wednesday, 6 November 2025, at 11:40 a.m., Professor Marzia Traverso, Director of the Institute of Sustainability for Civil Engineering (INaB) at RWTH Aachen University and Scientific Director of Circular, will speak at the event. Her presentation, entitled “Circular Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment: how to combine life cycle sustainability assessment and the concept of circularity,” will explore how the LCSA (Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment) methodology can integrate environmental, economic, and social aspects into a comprehensive sustainability assessment of products and processes.

Circular will also present the carbon footprint assessment of its exhibition stand, which has been designed using recycled materials and conceived to minimize overall environmental impact. The analysis considered emissions related to transport, materials, fittings, and catering, in line with the most up-to-date international standards for emissions calculation and offsetting. The results will be shared during the event, together with the underlying scientific methodology, to encourage the adoption of objective tools for measuring sustainability.

Circular’s participation in Ecomondo highlights the growing importance of contributions from Southern Italy in the fields of sustainable innovation and applied research. It represents a tangible example of how expertise, universities, and businesses can work together to develop new tools supporting the ecological transition and corporate social responsibility.
